Local-first art pipeline for game developers

Game art, fired until it ships.

Artkiln runs an art director in a loop: it generates, judges, and refines your asset until it clears the quality bar — then slices it into a production-ready atlas.

Free during early access. One email when it opens — nothing else.

The Artkiln editor: a project library of game-art objects with quality scores, completed runs each showing a batch of four generated candidates scored by the art-director loop, and a generation panel with a per-run cost estimate

How it works

01

Anchor with your art

Tag shipped assets as Style or Layout references. They calibrate what “good” means for your game.

02

Generate a batch

Use the image backend you choose: Gemini, OpenAI, or fal. Your keys, your costs.

03

The loop judges

Triage ranks the batch and duels the best image against the run’s champion. An art director signs off only when the bar is cleared — and every “ship” must survive a second blind opinion.

04

Ship the atlas

The winner is sliced, named, background-cleaned, and exported production-ready.

A quality loop, not a slot machine

Verdicts are ship / iterate / reject with a score calibrated against your own shipped art. Runs stop themselves on plateau instead of burning your budget.

ship iterate reject

Production output, not pretty pictures

Sprite atlases, slice naming, background cleanup, exports. Files ready to drop into your engine.

Local-first, keys-first

Runs on your machine. Your API keys, provider prices, no markup. A dry-run shows the cost of a run before you spend a cent. Your files never leave your disk.

FAQ

How much does a run cost?

You bring your own API keys (Google, OpenAI, or fal) and pay providers directly at cost — Artkiln adds no markup. A built-in dry-run estimates the price of a run before you start.

Which platforms?

macOS and Linux. Windows via WSL2.

Which image models?

Google Gemini / Vertex, OpenAI, and fal.ai — switchable per project.

What about Steam’s AI disclosure?

Assets made with Artkiln are AI-generated content and should be disclosed like any other. Artkiln doesn’t change your obligations — it changes how good the disclosed assets are.

Will it be open source?

The source will be public at launch (source-available); paid convenience builds fund development.
